The Edge On Folk is broadcast every Saturday from 8am to noon, Pacific Time, on CiTR fm 101.9 in Vancouver, and live on www.citr.ca < wherever you are. The show has been hosted by Steve Edge, more or less every week since June 1985! It is now syndicated on CHIR fm on Saltspring Island one week later on Sundays at 10am. On our Wild Atlantic Music Tour opening night at The Old Ground Hotel in Ennis, Co. Clare last month, I was called upon to sing a song at the session. I chose "Midnight On The Water" by the late Ron Kavana. It was well-received, I thought. Then Aodan Coyne of Socks in the Frying Pan came over for a chat. He thought it interesting that I should choose one of Ron's songs since his father, Mick Coyne, had just passed away. Ron and Mick had been the best of friends. Aodan's mother, Mick's widow Miriam, walked in just as I started to sing. She and Aodan had just interred Mick's ashes in the cathedral graveyard right across the street. She came in to the hotel and walked in to the session right after the ceremony to hear me sing that song. She was stunned. I still get chills thinking about that!
